Millennials Are All About the Online Experience—Except in Real Estate

A recent survey by CentSai, a financial wellness website, shows that millennials would much prefer to work with a real estate agent or mortgage lender face to face, over 70% respectively, as opposed to with online professionals due to reasons such as personal touch, handholding, and local knowledge. A recent Ellie Mae survey showed similar results citing how mortgage borrowers, including millennials, would rather seek out referrals for lenders as opposed to searching online. However, over 95% of millennial homebuyer’s report relying on the internet to help in making a purchasing decision, using tools such as homebuying apps which offer images and information on potential homes and neighborhoods. The survey also showed that 56% of the participating millennials plan on purchasing a home over the next two years.
